In memory of Professor Andrzej Szczeklik...
There are people who by their activity, by their presence, make the world special, sublime history and the paths of conduct for the future. That person was Professor Andrzej Szczeklik.
Providence has endowed him with extraordinary gifts. He enslaved all, with anyone he encountered the power of his intellect, knowledge, manners, strength of character. He noticed us in such a nice, unique way, regardless of our views and participate in creating of science.
More than 600 scientific papers of Professor and his team was published in the most prestigious journals. Many of them brought him numerous awards and honors, including: award of the journal "The Lancet" and C. von Pirquet award by the European Academy of Allergology and Clinical Immunology. Publications on aspirin-induced asthma have provided first places in the world ranking of number of citations. Professor is one of the world's most cited Polish authors.
He is author and co-author of several textbooks published not only in Poland but also in Great Britain, Japan, Sweden and the United States.
He was a member of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Pontifical Academy of Sciences, vice-president of the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences, honorary member of the Royal College of Physicians in London and the American College of Physicians. A doctorate honoris causa was given to Professor from Medical Universities in Wrocław, Warsaw, Katowice, Lodz and the Jagiellonian University.
In 1990 Professor became Rector of Medical Academy in Krakow, elected in independent elections.
His impressive scientific achievements brought famous to Poland, and the fame which he shared with us all, teaching how to follow the way of truth in science, in medicine.
Professor taught by his attitude, not to forget the soul in the medical profession, and to look in art humanity.
Prof. Andrzej Szczeklik surrounded by crowds of admirers, achieving one success after another could be cordial for older and younger colleagues. It is also a measure of his greatness.
As a laureate of many prestigious awards, Professor received a honorary membership of the Polish Society of Allergology. We are proud of it. This ennobles the whole community of Polish allergists.
